NORTHERN GROUP
LOCATION MAP PROGRAMME LINKS PREVIOUS SPEAKERS
The Bucks Family History Northern Group is part of the Buckinghamshire Family History Society. Originally formed for the benefit of those members of the Society living in and around Milton Keynes who, for various reasons, were unable to attend the Society's meetings in Aylesbury. The first event, an exhibition and talk was held at Rectory Cottages, Bletchley on the 1st June 1991. It was subsequently decided to hold regular meetings and these have continued to date. Due to increases in attendance we have had to move to a larger venue and now meet at the Methodist Church Hall Queensway, Bletchley. Meetings are usually held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7.30p.m. We usually have a speaker but some meetings are less formal.
We welcome all members of the Bucks FHS as well as visitors to all of our meetings
The aims of the Group are
To provide a regular opportunity for local members to meet and exchange experiences and to receive encouragement and advice on their genealogical problems. To make available within Milton Keynes such of the facilities enjoyed by members of the Society elsewhere, as are practicable. These include access to the International Genealogical Index (IGI), microfiche reader, library, bookstall etc.
For much of this we are indebted to the members themselves and for this we are grateful. Refreshments are provided at all of our monthly meetings.
Visitors (i.e. non-members of the Bucks F.H.S)are always very welcome to attend. It is worth noting however that if you wish to attend regularly it is more advantageous to join the main Society! Membership will give you entry to the extensive material held by the main Society that includes a large lending library as well as a journal and reference library, all of which are invaluable for your research. They also run a large book stall.
Following the Executive Committee's decision, from January 2018 members will be required to pay £2.00 and visitors £4.00 to attend meetings.
